Workout Wednesday - Tabata Party

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Howdy Friends!

Happy Workout Wednesday! I am linking up with Diatta, Sheila, Amanda, and Heather for today's edition of Workout Wednesday. If you're looking for more great workouts, go check them out. :) Today, I have a great Tabata workout for you that I tested out on Sunday. It was fun to do a whole workout without counting one single rep!

I used a handy interval timer app on my iphone. You simply plug in the work to rest ratio you want and how many intervals you are going to do. For this workout, I set the high interval for 20 seconds, the low interval for 10 seconds, and it repeated that 8 times for one tabata. It's super handy, because I can still play my music through the phone and the app sounds a little alarm over the music (the song keeps playing right along) when it is time for me to switch intervals.

I also geared up for my workout with the new workout gloves E gave me. Somehow, I lost one glove of my last pair, and I love them for kettlebell work. Hot pink! He knows me so well!

This workout was a doozy. Each Tabata takes 4 minutes, plus about 1 minute rest in between each tabata, so the core of this workout took 30 minutes. I added about a 5 minute warm-up and approximately 5 minutes of extra abdominal work and stretching. It was definitely a butt kicker in the best sense of the word!

In honor of Workout Wednesday, I am thrilled to partner with For Two Fitness for an amazing New Year giveaway. Three easy high protein meal ideas + A Spartan Race Entry Giveaway

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

Howdy!

Happy first full week of 2015! I hope this year has been treating you well so far. Yesterday, I told you about my New Year's resolutions for a stronger Mind, Body, and Soul. Today, I thought I would give you a peak at a few of the EASY recipes I am using to work towards my goal of a stronger body through less sugar and processed foods. Additionally, my good friends over at Spartan, are keeping me motivated to work towards my stronger body with a ton of exciting new events for 2015. They have even been generous enough to offer all Fun, Fit, and Fabulous readers a discount on any race in the continental U.S. and one lucky reader will win a 100 % FREE RACE ENTRY!

So let's start where all healthy days start..... with breakfast! As you guys know, I am a HUGE oatmeal fan. I would eat it every day if I could, and not that there is anything wrong with oatmeal, but I have been trying to increase my protein intake in the mornings. I get tired of scrambled eggs pretty quickly, so I am always looking for ways to jazz them up. After my noodle arm making workout (full post on that tomorrow) yesterday, I whipped up an easy breakfast scramble. I had left over sweet potato fries from Sunday night and some delicious turkey sausage begging to be used in the fridge.

To make this scramble, I chopped up roughly 1/2 a cup of left over sweet potato fries and 2 small links of breakfast turkey sausage. Next, I heated up a non-stick skillet with 1 tsp of coconut oil and tossed in my sausage and sweet potatoes (remember the sweet potatoes were already cooked). After I felt like they were warm, I added three eggs (pre whisked). Mix until the eggs are completely cooked and voila!

Next up, is my new favorite lunch - Avocado Tuna Salad (zero mayonnaise to be found here). All I did was combine 1/2 a ripe avocado with 1 can of chunk white tuna in water, 1 tbs lemon juice, and a dash of salt and pepper to taste. I am really not a huge tuna fan, but I know how good it is for you so I try to incorporate it into my diet whenever possible. Now that I have found this combination, I will be eating it A LOT more often. I think avocados just make everything better! Yes, those green apple slices are gigantic!!

Last but not least, we have yesterday's dinner. This recipe comes to you compliments of Pinterest and You Hunt I Gather. We all know E is just an overgrown (a very intelligent one of course) 12 year old, and he definitely has the taste buds to go with it. When I saw this recipe for Almond Crusted Chicken Tenders, I knew I had to give it a try! They were so easy to make and delicious. Since I baked them instead of frying them, there was no messy grease to deal with. I will definitely be making these babies again very soon!

My second New Year's resolution for a strong body was to focus on increasing my strength in 2015. I specifically set the goal of increasing the number of pull-ups I can do throughout the year. I am definitely going to need that strength to conquer in a Spartan Race! I'm hoping to compete in one of the races when Spartan comes to Austin in May!!

The goal of the Spartan Race team is to bring the excitement of obstacle racing to spectators and athletes (even if you don't consider yourself an athlete) alike! With course lengths of 3+ miles (sprint), 8+ miles (super), and 12+ miles (beast), each course is filled with mud, water, and signature obstacles designed to help you discover your inner Spartan. Athletes of all fitness levels can participate and enjoy these challenging and invigorating obstacle courses! Spartan Race even has events for kids! They believe that fitness and adventure should involve the whole family. Now, that is something I can get excited about!

They have some exciting new things coming out in 2015! The new 2015 Spartan season pass has just been released with tons of great perks such as unlimited racing, special travel discounts, free bag check, and much more. The 2015 World Championship Spartan Race is also moving to Lake Tahoe California (somewhere on the top of my list of places to visit)! For all my podcast lovers (I love to listen to them when I'm walking or running), Joe Desena's "Spartan Up!" podcast is launching soon. Last but not least, the first ever Spartan Cruise is happening in March. Talk about not letting your workouts slide during vacation!

If that's not exciting enough, the Spartan Race team wants to offer all Fun, Fit, and Fabulous readers 10% off any race. Simply use the code SPARTANBLOGGER at checkout! They are also going to be giving one lucky reader a FREE RACE ENTRY into any race in the continental U.S.! Enter below for your chance to win!

Running, Birthdays, and a Spartan Race Giveaway Oh My!

Monday, October 27, 2014

Happy Monday

Is it really Monday already?? I wish we could slow down the weekends a bit, especially this one. We didn't do anything too crazy, but it was so nice to spend some quality time with my two favorite people.

Saturday morning, the tiny human gave me the best gift ever and slept all the way until 6 AM. I fed her, put her back to sleep, and headed out for my run. It was a cool 68 degrees and felt amazing! My legs were pretty tired from a week full of teaching, but the run felt pretty good non-the-less. It was the longest I have ran since I found out I was pregnant a year ago. Thanks to pretty rough morning sickness and super tight hips, my running days ended pretty soon after I found out we were expecting. It was a tiny price to pay for sweet baby girl. :) They weren't the fastest 5 miles by any means, but I did manage to finish just a hair under my goal pace.

Training Plan October 27th- November 1st
Monday: 4.5 Miles
Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: No running
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: No running
Saturday: 6 miles
Sunday: Rest

After a quick shower, it was time to get Annabelle up for the day. We hung out for a little bit and then went and picked up kolache's and cookie cake for E's birthday. E can eat a ridiculous amount of sweets at one time, but when it comes to cookie cake, he takes it to a whole 'nother level. There were only two pieces of cake left by the end of the night on Saturday, and I'm sure he had to hold himself back from eating those.

Annabelle likes to hang out in her PJ's on Saturday morning and watch Game Day with mom while dad sleeps. :)

Once pops woke up, he and Annabelle spent most of the day on the couch (when she wasn't eating or napping) watching football. I asked E if he wanted to anything special for his birthday, but he informed me that would require him to miss some football games so that was out of the question.

He did get to open presents, watch plenty of football, and chow down on BBQ for dinner, so overall, he would call it a very successful birthday.

Now, time for the exciting giveaway! The awesome/hardcore people with the Reebok Spartan Race contacted me about hosting a race entry giveaway here on the blog. Ever since running the Tough Mudder a few years ago, I have really been wanting to step it up to the next level and do a Reebok Spartan Race so I jumped at the chance to help them spread the word about their upcoming races. Unfortunately, we will be traveling on the date of the Dallas race, but I really want to try to make it happen next year! However, that doesn't mean one of you can't participate for Free!

So what is the Reebok Spartan Race? Let's hear it straight from the source!

"Spartan Race is on a mission to get you active, healthy, excited about change, and return to our ancient roots where running through woods, getting dirty, and facing adversity was part of everyday life. Our events are all about challenging today’s perception of normal.

Having experienced many different racing events, we wanted to make adventure racing more accessible to everyone, but do not be fooled by the word ‘accessible’, as our events have a challenge for everyone’s needs. Spartan Race now introduces a level for everyone beginning with the entry level Spartan Sprint, intermediate level Super Spartan, the advanced Spartan Beast, and the ‘99.9% need not apply’ extreme level Death Race.Whatever your level, Spartan Race will test your strength, stamina, and sense of humor. "

I love how their mission is to get everyone healty and excited about movement! Many people associate the Spartan Race series with something scary and unmanagable, but their new level system really makes it a race for anyone! Since this race is for anybody looking to have a great time, EVERYONE can get 10% off their race entry using the code SPARTANBLOGGER.

And one lucky reader will win a FREE RACE ENTRY to any Spartan Race in the U.S.

Entry is good for any race in the contininatal US. Giveaway will be open through Sunday, November 2nd and the winner will be announced on Tuesday, November 4th! Good luck!

Baby G 38 Week Update!

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

Howdy!

It's time for another Baby G update! I can't believe I could literally have this baby at any time. Don't get me wrong, I am totally ready. However, it is strange waking up every day not knowing if this is going to be the day you officially become a mommy!

Baby G Update

How Far Along: 38 weeks as of last Friday. Only 1.5 weeks to go to until our due date! I tell her every day she is free to arrive as soon as possible!

Size of Baby G: Annabelle is the size of a watermelon at about 19-22 inches and 6.5lbs. A gentleman in Sam's Club on Friday asked me if I was looking for the basketball section and pointed to my belly. Not funny!

Movement: Even though I feel like she is running out of room in there, she still manages to fit in her daily aerobics. Kickboxing my ribs is still her favorite activity! :)  She also still gets hiccups multiple times a day, and like her daddy, is most active at night. Lord help me if she stays like that once she arrives.

Exercise: My final class was last Friday. It was bitter sweet for sure. Doing any kind of exercise on the floor was getting extremely uncomfortable, but I miss my wonderful students already! Just because I stopped teaching, doesn't mean I've stopped working out. I am walking like a crazy women trying to get this little one to come greet the world. I did 5+ miles both days this weekend, and yesterday I did a combination walking/strength training interval workout which I will post tomorrow. I just don't feel like myself without exercise so I'm going to keep it up until E rolls me into the hospital. :)

Cravings: I'm the most boring pregnant lady ever. Still just watermelon on the craving front. I guess I should be thankful that I didn't crave ice cream for nine months straight, but I'm a little sad I don't have better pregnancy craving stories to share. Eating before noon is still a little iffy so I usually stick to just a granola bar or something extremely small for breakfast.

Miscellaneous: Her nursery is officially done and I am completely and totally in love. It is all that I was hoping for and more. It wouldn't have been possible without E who painted, put furniture together, and hung pictures like a champ, E's parents who gifted us a lot of her furniture, and Kelley and Kelli who both made handmade decorations for her room. Now, all I need is my little angel to put in it!

Don't forget to enter my Pure Via Summer Fit Kit Giveaway! You don't want to miss out on all the delicious goodies!

If you missed my For Two Fitness Giveaway a few weeks ago, have no fear! You have a second chance! The awesome people at For Two Fitness are hosting and Instagram giveaway contest this week. All you have to do is repost this image and tag @ForTwoFitness with #ForTwoFitnessGift. If you are expecting a little one, this is the absolute best workout gear around. I hope you all have a wonderful day. I'm off for a walk of course!

Pure Via Summer Fit Kit Giveaway

Monday, June 23, 2014

Happy Monday Friends!!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Still no baby girl around these parts, but we did get to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend (hopefully our last one or two). My wonderful in-laws came into town to celebrate a belated Father's Day. We spent some time puttering around Austin, shopping, and just catching up. The highlight of the weekend was when we drove down to Lockhart to take Eric's parents to the BBQ capital of Texas. I had to keep my meal pretty tiny so I didn't upset Miss Annabelle, but it was still delicious and so fun! It was there first time in Lockhart and they loved the BBQ.

Now it's Monday, and the start of a new week! I'm excited to kick this week off with yet another awesome giveaway courtesy of the wonderful people over at Pure Via. They sent me their Pure Via Summer Fit Kit to review and are going to be giving away a second kit to one lucky reader!

I was selected to do this review and giveaway as an ambassador for FitFluential. The opinions are completely my own.

The ‘Pure Via Summer Fit Kit’ contains:
  • Box of Pure Via® non-GMO packets
  • Bottle of Pure Via® stevia liquid
  • Bottle of Pure Via® vanilla stevia liquid
  • Container of instant iced tea
  • Pure Via mason jar & straw
  • Pure Via pedometer
  • Pure Via SPF 15 lip balm

I have been using the Pure Via packets for about a year and a half now, and was a huge fan so needless to say, I was extremely excited to try their liquid stevia drops and other products!

The liquid stevia drops are naturally sweetened and are wonderful in either hot or cold beverages. I love to use the vanilla stevia drops in my coffee for a little hint of vanilla. They are absolutely perfect to throw in your purse or gym bag for use on the go as well. I hate it when I'm at a restaurant and want to add a little extra sweetness to my tea or coffee and my only choices are sugar or aspartame filled sweet-n-low. These tiny bottles are the perfect answer.

The Pure Via non-GMO packets are a staple in my pantry. I use them in my coffee, tea, lemonade, and cooking! They offer a much healthier alternative to traditional sugar.

Did you know June is National Iced Tea month? Being from Texas, I am a huge iced tea fan and this Lipton iced tea is perfect when your craving something refreshing! Getting to mix it up in my cute new Pure Via glass was an extra bonus.

When I went to the grocery store this morning, strawberries were on sale 2 cartons for $3, so of course I had to load up. I purchased 3 cartons! Inspired by my delicious in season strawberries and new Pure Via goodies, I decided to make a fun and fruity glass of iced tea.

I combined 2 tbsp of Lipton Unsweetened Iced Tea with 12oz or water, a handful of ice, 2 sliced strawberries, and 4 drops of Pure Via liquid stevia. I topped it off with an extra strawberry for garnish. It was absolutely delicious and extremely refreshing with just the right amount of sweet.

I also received a handy pedometer and some delicious tasting chap stick in my Fit Kit! Pretty sweet goody box if I do say so my self! Now, it's time for one of you guys to win a Summer Fit Kit for yourself. The giveaway will close on Sunday, June 29th and midnight and I will announce the winner on Monday. Good luck!

Gratitude Monday + Giveaway Winner

Monday, June 16, 2014

Happy Monday Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Ours was busy busy but super productive. We headed to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Maudie's, on Friday night and then ran some quick errands to pick up a few things for Annabelle. On Saturday morning, E slept in and I went for a nice 3 mile walk before it got to hot. I also did some baby laundry! I don't think I have ever been so excited to do laundry in my life. :)

After I finished Annabelle's laundry, E and I headed out to run some more errands before settling down to watch the Texas baseball game. Sadly, they lost but they're not out of the tournament yet. After the game, we grabbed dinner and headed to the movie theater to watch 22 Jump Street. This was Eric's Father's Day request. It was actually hilarious as long as you're ok with stupid funny.

Sunday morning, Miss Annabelle woke me up kicking at 6:45 AM, so I headed to the grocery store bright and early. Then I made Eric's Father's Day breakfast. Cinnamon rolls, bacon, and raspberries were on the menu for him. I whipped up a double batch of the almond flax blueberry muffins I made last week to freeze.

We spent most of the day deep cleaning the house and taking care of a few last minute things. I think we are officially ready for baby girl, and I know I am ready for her to get here. Knowing my luck though, she'll probably be a week or so late. I guess this will be a good lesson in patience.

In honor or starting Monday off on the right foot, I thought we would pause for a moment of gratitude. I ran across this graphic last week and thought it was a wonderful reminder to take a few moments every day to recognize what we are grateful for. If you don't follow Chris Freytag on Facebook and twitter, you really should! She posts amazing motivational quotes, workout tips, and nutritional advice.

Three Things I'm Thankful For Today:
  1. My wonderful husband who spent the ENTIRE weekend preparing our home for our baby girl and never complained once. He had things on his to do list I hadn't even thought of.
  2. My job that allows me to do what I love every single day and surround myself with positive people that make me smile!
  3. The baby girl that is growing in my belly who I will hopefully get to hold in my arms very very soon.
What are you thankful for today?

Last but not least, it's time to announce the For Two Fitness Giveaway winner.......... Traci S! Traci, please shoot me an email at LaurenEGeorge@gmail.com and I can get the rest of your information to For Two Fitness. I hope you love your new top as much as I do!

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Recent Eats + Bump Parties + One Good Laugh!

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

Happy Tuesday Friends!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day so far. Yesterday, started out with a delicious breakfast of homemade blueberry muffins and strawberries. I am working on perfecting this high protein blueberry muffin recipe to freeze for when Annabelle arrives. For take one, I was super excited with how it turned out. I used almond flour and ground flax seeds which can be tricky sometimes, but I think I am almost there. I will be sure to share it with you guys when it's perfect.

After breakfast, it was off to the studio to do a little work up front and then teach my 11 AM Barre class. It turned out to be a bump party when I was joined by 5 other soon to be mommies for class. It was so much fun!

Look at all those gorgeous ladies. We range from around 16 weeks to 36 weeks.

After class, I was pretty hungry so I headed home for lunch. I have to keep each meal pretty small so Annabelle doesn't hit the reject button. I decided to go with turkey and avocado roll-ups (zapped in the microwave of course to kill any listeria) and a plum. It was delicious and Annabelle tolerated it which is always a plus. :)

So I am officially 36 weeks and 5 days pregnant, and it is safe to say I have reached the "uncomfortable just ready for this to be over and meet my little one" stage. I am still trying to enjoy all of her little kicks (emphasis on the little, her jabs to my rib cage are not so cute), and the last few days alone with the hubs. However, I think the painfulness is beginning to win out. Sleep is pretty non existent these days. For example, I woke up at 3:30 AM last night when little miss had a severe case of the hiccups and couldn't go back to sleep. Luckily, I teach early morning classes, so I had to be up at 5:45 AM anyways. The hips and lower abdomen ache pretty much 24/7, and my bouts with round ligament pain feel like ice picks to my hip flexors. Pretty picture huh?

Enough ranting already Lauren! Anyways, my point was that with all of that going on, the following video could not have come along at the better time. It is a fabulous and hilarious description of all of the "joys" of pregnancy. It's also a nice reminder that I'm not alone in this. Millions of women have had babies over the years so I'm going to do my best to suck it up for just a little while longer. She's so worth it!

Be prepared to laugh.......hard!

Pretty good right? I'm off to run a few errands. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day!

For Two Fitness® Tank Top Giveaway

Monday, June 9, 2014

Happy Monday!

Let's start this week of with a bang! And by bang, I mean GIVEAWAY! Last week, I told you about how the wonderful people at For Two Fitness® had sent me a tank top to try out. Now, they are going even a step further and are giving a tank top from their new collection to one lucky reader!!

My Sweating For Two tank top is definitely one of my absolute favorite pieces of maternity clothing that I own. It is extremely comfortable, fits perfectly, and makes me feel great! I've only had mine for about a week and a half and I've already taught multiple classes in it!

The tank top has a wonderful moisture wicking effect, so it's great on days I teach multiple classes. I also love how long the tank top is. No chance of riding up during the arm portion of class with this bad boy. Between the ruching and the length, this tank top will fit perfectly right until the end. In the above picture, I am a little over 36 weeks pregnant, and the top still fits like a champ!

If you are prego, this tank top is a must. I just wish I would have ordered more of them earlier on in my pregnancy.

So let's get down to the giveaway! For Two Fitness® will be giving away one tank top to a reader who enters the giveaway below. The giveaway will be open until Sunday, June 15th at midnight. I will announce the winner on Monday!

32 Week Baby G Update + Mamma Chia Giveaway Winner

Monday, May 12, 2014

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend. We certainly did! I had to work until 2:45 PM on Saturday, but after that we headed down to Lockhart, Texas for dinner. Did you know Lockhart is the BBQ capital of Texas? I didn't either until Saturday. You literally step out of your car in Lockhart and it smells like BBQ. We went to one of the oldest BBQ joints in the town, Black's. It was seriously the best BBQ I have ever had! We also took a walk around Lockhart's town square and checked out their beautiful decorative courthouse. The whole town was too cute and the food was out of this world!!!

After dinner, we drove over to San Marcos to do a little outlet mall shopping. I got 2 new pair of workout pants from Under Armour and a bunch of precious onesies for Annabelle! Carter's had a big sale going on so I went a little crazy! :)

Sunday morning, I woke up early and headed to the grocery store. As soon as I got to the store, I started feeling extremely nauseous. I tried to hurry through grocery shopping as much as possible so I could get back home ASAP. I've been getting really nauseous after breakfast the past few days, but I hadn't even eaten anything yet so I'm not sure what was up. As soon as I unloaded the groceries, it was back to bed for me until my tummy settled down.

When I could finally move around without worrying about seeing last night's BBQ again, we headed to Sam's to stock up on a few baby supplies. Someone believes you are only a real man if you carry EVERYTHING in from the car at once. E snuck a 7ct box of Snickers in with the baby supplies.

It was a successful trip! We spent the rest of the afternoon catching a few rays, cleaning the house, bathing champ, and taking him for a walk. E grilled me a delicious Mother's Day dinner so it was the perfect evening! Speaking, of baby shopping, it's time for an Annabelle update.

Baby G Update - 32 Weeks

How Far Along: 32 weeks last Friday - Less than 2 months to go!

Size of Baby G: Annabelle is about the size of a head of lettuce weighing in at approximately 3.5-4lbs and 19inches. That seems huge to me!

Movement: She is still a very active one, especially whenever I lie down on my left side. I think she likes to practice walking on the side of my belly. I layed out in the backyard for a little while on Sunday, and you could totally tell when she shifted around because my whole belly would shift to one side. Kind of creepy, but really cool at the same time.

Exercise: Exercise is still going pretty well! I am teaching two barre classes everyday Monday-Friday, and walking about 3 miles on the treadmill as well. I've been trying to incorporate more independent strength work lately to keep up as much of my muscle mass as possible. It's crazy how your body just really doesn't want to feed your muscles while pregnant. I'll have a quick TRX and medicine ball workout up for you guys tomorrow. The hip and back pain are still pretty bad, but I've found that if I stretch pretty consistently throughout the day to keep things loose, I can keep moving.

Cravings: Well, since I found out watermelon might be causing my stomach problems, that's been out for a week now. I'm still pretty devastated about it! Since there is no watermelon in my life, I don't really have any cravings. I'm sticking to smoothies in the morning since the little one likes to hit the reject button if I try to eat any real food for breakfast. :)

Miscellaneous: I am really really missing hardcore sweaty workouts. I literally had a dream about burpees last night so I am looking forward to when I can work out full force again.

Giveaway winner!

Thank you to everyone who entered the Mamma Chia Giveaway. Our winner is Janet Lynn! If you could email me your address at LaurenEGeorge@gmail.com I can get your goodies sent right over!

How was your weekend?

Blueberry Banana Mamma Chia Smoothie

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

Howdy,

Happy Hump Day everyone! I hope you guys are having a great day so far. I have a yummy smoothie recipe lined up for this weeks installment of What I Ate Wednesday.

After reading yesterday's post, you know I have not been eating watermelon. :( I was also pretty over PB&J, so I mixed things up a bit for lunch this week with an open faced turkey, colby jack, and avocado sandwich on gluten free bread.

I'm not usually a huge sandwich person, but I am totally going through a phase right now. This sandwich absolutely hit it out of the ballpark in my book. It's even better if you toast your bread first and add a little spicy mustard!

Since my tummy still isn't loving real food in the morning, I went with a smoothie for breakfast. I decided to pump up the nutrition factor by throwing in a Mamma Chia Squeeze Vitality packet. Total success. Trusty smoothie ingredients + a Mamma Chia packet = a power packed smoothie!

Mamma Chia Giveaway!

Monday, May 5, 2014

Happy Monday Friends,

I hope you all had an amazing weekend! Ours was pretty laid back as both E and I were feeling a little under the weather. But never mind that, we are going to start this week off with a bang over her on the blog!

Two weeks ago the amazing people over at Mamma Chia sent me a jam packed box of goodies to try out. As soon as I saw it on my front porch, I immediately tore into it.

I received Janie Hoffman's (aka Mamma Chia) book Chia Vitality, 2 packages of Mamma Chia seeds, Wild Rasberry and Mango Coconut Chia Squeeze packets, and Mamma Chia drink vouchers. To say I was excited was an understatement. I am already a huge fan of chia seeds and try to eat them every day, especially while pregnant. Having so many new ways to eat chia seeds made me positively giddy.

I immediately dove into Janie's book with my morning cup of coffee. Throughout the book, she discusses all the benefits of chia seeds and how they even helped her overcome her auto immune disease. It is an extremely interesting read, especially if you enjoy slightly scientific nutrition type books.

I could do a couple of posts on all the wonderful things about chia seeds, but that might get a little boring. Let's break it down a little bit.

Benefits of Chia Seeds:
· Increased energy levels
· Improved Digestion
· A better complexion – Thank you antioxidants!
· Help increase muscle tone
· Boost mental sharpness
· Help you sleep better at night
· Great source of cholesterol –free proteins
· Contain over 9 essential amino acids
· 2 tbsp contains 10.3 grams of soluble and insoluble fiber!!
· Help prevent diverticulitis
· Help curb cravings by supplying your body with necessary vitamins and minerals.
The best thing about chia seeds is you can put them in just about anything for an added nutritional benefit. I mix them in my oatmeal, throw them in yogurt, toss them in my salad, and add them to homemade protein bites and baked goods. One of my favorite ways to use chia seeds is in my Chia Power Balls.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the Mamma Chia products I was fortunate enough to try. The Chia Squeeze packets are an absolutely amazing snack. I have loved eating them before my early  morning classes when I need a little something in my stomach to power me through but I don't want a full meal at 5:30 AM. They are also the perfect addition to any meal for a little extra nutrition!

The Mamma Chia drinks are delicious as well. If you are a little weirded out by seeds floating around in your drink, I promise you it's not as strange as you'd think. They are incredibly delicious, refreshing, and packed with 2500mg Omega-3's, 4g of protein, and 95mg of calcium.

Let's talk giveaway! It's time for one of you to get to try out some of Mamma Chia's products!
