Baby G Update - 17 Weeks

Friday, January 24, 2014

Happy Friday Friends,

The southern version of the polar vortex hit last night bringing ice and a microscopic amount of snow. It was mainly just on people's roof when we woke up this morning, but none-the-less, it was there. It dropped to 27 degrees last night so of course everyone freaked out and the whole city shut down. I'm not complaining at all, icy road scare me to death. I drove in for my 11:00 AM class and it was still pretty icy on the bridges. Us southerners don't know how to handle the cold weather at all. All of my northern friends would get a kick out of all of us hiding in our houses like there is a blizzard outside!

E took advantage of his day off by sleeping in and then heading out of town early for a bachelor party. The workaholic still went into work for a few hours. He just couldn't resist! Since I am home alone, and surrounded by frigid temperatures, I thought it was the perfect time for an update on baby girl.

It still seems so surreal that I am pregnant and I often forget for long stretches at a time. Well, I do now that I'm not nauseous 24/7. Since you can't really tell you are pregnant for the first few weeks, I didn't start taking bump pictures until 12 weeks. Here is the progress so far. I'm sorry it's not more impressive. :)

Baby G Stats
How Far Along: 17 weeks

Size of Baby G: Baby G is about the size of an onion this week.

Movement: None yet. They say you should start feeling the baby move around 20-22 weeks. I can't wait!

Exercise: Now that the nausea has subsided, exercise is so much more enjoyable. This week I taught two classes every day and fit in at least 30-45 minutes of cardio on the treadmill. Mainly a lot of walking at a high incline. I also finished three total body strength training workouts including this Sweat Is Beautiful Ball Workout. Almost all forms of exercise are still pretty comfortable (minus lying on my belly and anything that involves a lot of bouncing). I haven't noticed that I get sore a lot easier, but nothing too bad. I'm still enjoying working up a good sweat every day! :)

Cravings: I still haven't had any major cravings but I'm definitely a big fan of ketchup and So Delicious strawberry coconut milk yogurt. Other than that, I am trying to stick to my normal healthy eating routine.

How is the weather in your area today? If you live in the south, did your town freak out like mine about the ice?

All my moms, what was your craziest craving or favorite workout while pregnant?

In health,

  1. You look great!! I felt Shelby move for the first time at 15 weeks - just a flutter, but brought me to tears. I don't think I felt her again until 19 or 20 weeks. As for the weather, we are expected to have SNOW in Tallahassee next Wednesday. That's crazy!!! And lastly, I craved sweets the WHOLE time. This is really weird since I do not eat sweets. I really don't care too much for it. But while I was pregnant - OMG, give me cookies, cake, chocolate, etc!! I'm surprised I didn't put on a ton of weight!!!
