Happy Hump Day Friends!

Yesterday evening, I went to bed excited about the fact that I get to sleep in until 7:00am and go for a run after 7+ hours of sleep. That's always a win in my book. Apparently, my body had different ideas for me and started trying to wake up at 5:00am. After 2 more hours of fitful sleep, it was time to get up and get going. I was still excited for my run even if I was running on a little less than the ideal amount of sleep. :)

I headed out for a 4 miler with my ipod loaded up. I could tell pretty quickly my legs were not as excited about this run as my mind was. They were a tad achy and my shins and knees were bothering me for some reason. I think it's time for new shoes. I pushed through and finished the 4+ miles in far from record time, but hey I finished.

Although it wasn't the best run ever, any run is a good run!

After a quick shower, it was time to refuel with some breakfast. I whipped up 2 eggs + 1 egg white + 1/2 a link of turkey sausage with a grapefruit on the side. Of course a cup of 1/2 caff coffee was essential as well!

Mmmmm Mmm good! Bring it on hump day. Even though this run was less than stellar it is still helpful in base building for my next half marathon. Since football season takes up pretty much every weekend in the fall, I had to go with a race in January. I'm excited to try my hand at the 3M Half Marathon here in Austin on January 19th!

I'm excited to do a race in Austin! I'm also looking forward to many long runs around the beautiful Town Lake! Is anyone else doing this half marathon or relay?

I'm headed up to the studio to do a little work, but before I go I want to share a neat article I came across this morning. The Huffington Post posted this article that describes in detail what happens to different parts of your body during exercise. Your brain for example undergoes tremendous changes while you are exercising.

"When you work out regularly, the brain gets used to this frequent surge of blood and adapts by turning certain genes on or off. Many of these changes boost brain cell function and protect from diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or even stroke, and ward off age-related decline, she says." -Sarah Klein, The Huffington Post

I hope you all have a wonderful hump day!

  1. Your b-fast looked delish today. The grapefruit reminded me of that broiled grapefruit recipe I was obsessed with for a bit and I might have to bring that back. Also, did I mention I told my mom about your baked oatmeal and she looves it =)
