Howdy!

How is everyone doing today? Hopefully, great! When I first started teaching aerobics, I thought I would never teach or even like yoga for that matter. But boy have times changed! I am so far past liking yoga, I would pretty much qualify as obsessed. It literally makes me feel good from the inside out. Most of you know that I am one of the biggest worry warts around, so yoga is key to me keeping my sanity. It also helps me prevent running injuries, increase my flexibility, improve my balance, and sculpt lean muscles. I love reading about yoga, so when I heard about a book titled, Slim, Calm, Sexy Yoga, I knew I had to have it.

It took me a few days to find a copy because it was sold out everywhere. Once I started reading, I was hooked. Tara Stiles is an awesome writer and an even more amazing yoga instructor. She talks about all of the benefits of yoga (some I already knew, and some I didn't), and how to make yoga a part of your every day life. The whole book is about inserting 5-15 minute yoga sessions in your day wherever possible.

The book includes amazing pictures and detailed explanations for over 210 yoga poses! So newbies and seasoned yogis alike will enjoy this book.

The best part about the book, are the amazing yoga routines Tara includes. She uses yoga poses and routines to cure or improve everyday ailments or problems. Need to rev up a sluggish metabolism? There is a routine for that!

Having trouble sleeping at night? (Me!) There is a routine for that!

There are routines to wake up your metabolism in the morning, burn fat, tone your entire body, focus on your upper or lower body, calm anxiety, ease depression, prevent insomnia, improve your memory, promote relaxation, improve strength, stamina, flexibility, and even your skin!

Out of all of the exercise and nutrition books I have read over the years, this is by far my favorite! I would suggest it to anyone who is interested in yoga, practices yoga, or teaches yoga! It's a definite 10!

Don't forget to check out the Christmas discounts going on at the Shop FF&F page!

Food for thought:
Has anyone read this book?
What good fitness and nutrition books have you read lately?

  1. Lauren! I totally want to borrow this book sometime. Or maybe I should just go by a copy for myself... hmmmm. You know I love pilates and I love yogalates and I've always wanted to get into yoga but it's never got me hooked. What class would you suggest trying at my gym to try to get me into it? We have Yoga, Power Yoga, and Vinyasa Yoga. I think I'd probably need to start with a class or video to figure out what I was doing! Let me know what you think. :)

  4. Hi Amy! I think you would love this book! It is sooooo good. I think after you read the book, you would enjoy yoga more because you would know exactly what each pose dose for you. I think you would like Power Yoga or a Vinyasa class. Both of those classes are great workouts so you would still feel like you were getting a lot out of them. It's definitely a good idea to start out with a class or video so you can actually see proper alignment. Let me know if you go take a class.
