My Current Top Five Favorite Things!

Happy Hump Day!

This morning, I walked outside for my morning run and was shocked when it was actually cool outside. That's right cool!!! At 8:00am it was 76 degrees outside. Compared to the 106 degrees it has been, it felt like absolute Heaven!

This has been one crazy week! We are finishing up training all of the new hires at work, and getting ready for the Fall semester to start. Most of the students have returned to campus, so the Rec Center is really starting to pick up. Classes officially begin tomorrow, but I don't have classes on Thursday for Friday so I don't have to start until Tuesday! How lucky is that!

So on to today's topic..... My Current Top Five Favorite Things. These are the things that I couldn't live without right now. I use them or eat them pretty much everyday. I am definitely one of those people who go through phases, especially with food. I will eat tuna and crackers every day for lunch for a month and then move on to something new. I know I should add in variety, but when I find something I like, I stick with it!

1. My brand new hot pink Fit Flops. Eric bought these for me because my favorite color is pink, and I wear my black and brown Fit Flops almost every day. (He definitely gets the husband of the year award!) Now, I don't believe that simply by wearing Fit Flops I will have tight toned legs. However, I have pretty bad plantar fasciitis in my left heel, and these shoes are like Heaven on Earth for my feet. My feet are also extremely flat, so normal flip flops are really uncomfortable. These are the only flip flops I will ever wear!

2. My pink igloo lunch box purse. This was another thoughful gift from my wondeful husband. Besides the obvious fact that it is pink and looks like a purse (what girl doesn't like that), it is also super effective. A couple days a week, I have to cary my lunch and dinner with me to work and this little gem keeps them both cold all day long. That's right, I can pack my dinner at 8am and it will still be cold at 6pm!

3. Truvia- Truvia is made from the Stevia plant. I have heard people rave about Stevia for awhile, but I am offically jumping on the Stevia bandwagon. Stevia is a South American herb that is 30 times sweeter than sugar. The body does not metabolize the stevia leaf or any of its processed forms - so there is no caloric intake. I also think it tastes better than Splenda or aspartame with no after taste.

4. Hummus- I am trying to incorporate more meatless meals into my diet, and hummus has been my go to food! My favorite lunch includes hummus, avocado, spinach, and black beans all in a low-carb pita. Talk about a power packed lunch! 2 Tbsp. of hummus has 80 calories, 7g fat, (3.5g polyunsat. & 2g monounsat.) 4g carb, & 2g protein.

5. Oroweat Sandwich Thins- My lovely friends Katie and Alison introduced me to these a few months ago. I have recently started using them for everything I would normally use bread for, such as breakfast sandwiches, burgers, regular sandwiches, and they are really delicious toasted with hummus! 1 sandwich thin (which is a top and bottom) has 100 calories, 1g fat, 21g carbs, 5g fiber, and 5g protein. I would highly recommend them!

Food For Thought:
Are there any products you could not live with out?
If you made your own top 5, what would they be?

Yours truly,
