A Perfect Sunday - Spotlight on Kerbey Lane Cafe + a Trip to Lady Bird Lake

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Howdy Friends!

A new week is about to be upon us. Let's embrace it and take over the world! Ok, maybe taking over the world is a little overzealous, but lets at least rock the heck out of this week.

Today, was an absolutely amazing day! The weather was beautiful, we had great friends in town, and we got to spend some quality family time together. We started off the morning with a trip over to Kerbey Lane Cafe!

I've been dying to try this place. As you guys know, I could eat breakfast for every meal, so anytime I can partake in brunch is a good day by me. One of the things that I love most about Austin is how friendly it is for people who have food allergies. I told them I was allergic to gluten and they brought this gem right out!

They have gluten free apple spice pancakes and gingerbread pancakes. Oh, decisions decisions! I went with Apple Spice pancakes with eggs and fruit.

Oh my goodness those pancakes were life changing. I LOVE pancakes, and these were some of my favorites! :) E had french toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon. He said it was delicious as well.

After a quick trip to the grocery store, we loaded up Champ and headed over to Lady Bird Lake to soak up the beautiful weather and go for a hike around the lake. I couldn't stop saying, "can you believe how beautiful it is?" :) Hahaha

My cute boys! Both of them are smiling big for mama.

Figuring out our route.

Champ made lots of new friends today!

Don't they both look so athletic?

Champ worked up quite a thirst on our walk.

Champ was in a standoff with this squirrel. It was hilarious!

We put the state flag on everything in Texas.

You could see the capital when we crossed over the bridge. What a beautiful view!

It has been a perfect Sunday and we're going to wrap it up by grilling some burgers!

What did you do this weekend?

How's the weather in your neck of the woods?

It's Friday! Be.........

Thursday, October 4, 2012

It's Friday so let's .........

I love being around people that are infectiously happy! Do you know someone like that? Someone that just being around puts you in a good mood, and whenever you want to have a good time they are the first person you call. I definitely have a few friends that fit into this category. Friends that make me laugh so hard my side hurts (hello Jenny P and Alison)! You knew I was talking about you two right! :) I'm extremely happy that I get to see these too increadible ladies next month! Whoop!

I also want to......
Thank you Chobani for this picture.

Two words...... so much power! Speaking of awesome, my dog Champ is pretty awesome. He's great for a lot of reasons, but the way he chooses to sleep every day is pretty freaking AWESOME. Please observe.

Yep, he chooses to sleep with his hind legs up the wall whenever possible. I like to think he takes after his mama and is a yogi, but I think he's just silly. Either way, I love it!

Lastly, I want to.......

Unlike some of our northern neighbors, the temperatures have not dropped that much down here in the Sunshine State, and I have been super thirsty lately. Cucumber Lemon Water has been my drink of choice.

Refreshing and delicious. I'm off to take the wild man (aka Champ) for a walk. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

What are you up to this weekend?

What are you going to "be" today?

My Saturday through the eyes of Instagram

Saturday, January 7, 2012

Howdy!

How was your Saturday? I must admit, mine was pretty dang fun. I started the day off by teaching a step class and followed that with breakfast with my friend Katie at Cafe Brazil! Two weekends in a row. How lucky am I?

After breakfast, it was back to the house for a little R&R and house work. In the afternoon, I took a leisurely trip over to Central Market to stock up on some necessitites. Right when I walked in, I saw these guys. They were huge and so colorful that I couldn't help but snap a picture.

I grabbed some Creme Brulee coffee, tahini, chickpeas, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, cumin, almond butter, bananas, quinoa pasta, and corn tortillas. Homemade hummus is in my future. I love the bulk food section so much!

When I pulled up to the house, this is how I was greeted.

Aren't my boys cute? Champ was actually pretty good while taking his bath. He only jumped out of the basin 20 times. Just kidding, Champers. Once Champ and E were all clean, we headed out to dinner. We decided to try out a new restaurant called Patrizio. It was absolutley delicious. We sat out on the patio under huge heaters. Check out our view!

I ordered the veggie plate which included grilled squash, zuchinni, carrots, asaparagus, brocolli, and onions with fresh parmesan cheese. It also came with polenta and marinara sauce. I had never tried polenta before, but I absolutley loved it. I was in veggie Heaven. E went with the deep dish pepperoni pizza.

This pizza looks innocent, but it was crazy. The layers of cheese and pepperoni were so thick, E only finished 3 pieces. I couldn't believe it when he said he was stuffed. Well, kind of stuffed. He can always make room for dessert.....

Woops! We ordered the flourless chocolate cake with rasberry sauce. It was so delicious I forgot to take a picture before we devoured it. After dinner, we walked around the village for awhile and then headed home to watch some football (story of my life). :)

I hope you had a wonderful Saturday!

Howdy!

Yesterday was a great first day of 2012! I started it off with a nice run and brunch with Eric, Meredith and Greg at Cafe Brazil.

This was my first time eating here, and let me tell you, I will be a frequent flyer from now on. The best part was the bottomless coffee bar with way too many coffee choices! I was in coffee lovers Heaven!

I ordered the vegetarian omelet with fruit and Eric ordered the crepes with a side of bacon and eggs. Mine was filled with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes! MMMMMMM Good!

After breakfast, I ran some errands and then hung out around the house reflecting on everything that happened in 2011. It was an amazing and busy year. Here are a few of my favorite events in 2011!

We went to the Cotton Bowl to watch the Aggies play LSU.

I went to my first pro soccer game.

I ran a couple of half marathons.

E and I competed in the Warrior Dash!

We went to the NCAA Men's Final Four Basketball games.

We bought a house!!

We got a puppy who I adore!

We went to Colorado, and I fell in love with the state.

I continued to run regularly and loved every second of it!

That's just a quick glimpse back and some of the amazing things I was blessed with in 2011. I am excited to see what 2012 has in store for my little family and for all of you! Happy New Year!

P.S. I finally updated my recipe page, so check it out if you are in need of some new healthy recipes!

What is your favorite memory from 2011?

What are you most looking forward to in 2012?
