Howdy!

I'm a little late with the weekend recap, but oh well. I'm rolling with it! I'm partly running behind because this weekend was so fabulous, I needed a little recovery time (and no, not due to wine). :)

On Friday evening, our friends Alison and Danny came in for a visit. They live in San Antonio so we don't get to see them as much as we'd like. They got in right as I finished putting Belle to sleep, and then we got right to catching up (aka discussing all things fitness and sports).

On Saturday morning, Alison, Danny and I went to try out a rowing studio in town called Ro. E had baby duty, and let's be honest, waking up early on a Saturday to workout is not is idea of fun. Try out a new class at midnight? He's all about it! I've used the rowing machines plenty of times, but had never taken a full rowing class. I was pretty pumped for the experience!

We arrived at Ro Fitness about 15 minutes early and the nice instructor helped us get all set up and familiar with our machines. This studio had Concept 2 rowers which I had been on numerous times.

The actual room itself was on top of the boat house overlooking Lady Bird Lake. It was such a pretty view and very appropriate for a rowing class!

The classroom, was clean, bright, cheery, and had plenty of room for the 10 rowers it housed. The instructor took us through a technical warm up to help us nail down our form and then we started the workout. We did 10 rounds of various 2 minute intervals. I wasn't quite as gassed afterwards as I thought I would be for spending a whole class on the rower, but I was definitely sore the next day. I was actually excited when I woke up the next day with sore hamstrings and glutes, because they say you are suppose to row more with your legs than arms. At least I know I was doing it right!

Overall, it was a really fun class with rocking music and a great atmosphere. I would definitely do it again!

Later on that day, we headed up to campus for the UT vs. Kansas State basketball game with a few friends. As usual, Belle had a great time at the game taking in all of the crowd. She actually does better when we are out and about then when we are at home. She gets bored easily at home, so she loved all the commotion at the game! She looked pretty darn cute too!

Just in case the ref started making bad calls, Annabelle was dressed and ready to go into the game at a moments notice. Luckily, they called a fair game so she was able to stay with us.

Sunday morning, I went to the grocery store bright and early before Annabelle woke up and then got right to baby food prep. I purchased a Baby Brezza whenever Annabelle started eating solid food and it was the best investment ever. It steams and purees the food for you in one container. I made over 30 jars of organic baby food in no time and all for less than about $12! Not too shabby!

After hanging out with little bit for awhile, I went up to the studio to train some of our new instructors in barre. They did an amazing job, and I can't wait to see them teaching. We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out at home, doing laundry, and practicing our Pilates moves for MarchMatness. Belle is really good at spine stretch forward!

That about sums up our weekend. I hope you are having a great week so far! I'm linking up with Sara from Lake Shore Runner for Tried it Tuesday!

What was your favorite memory from the weekend?

Fellow moms, any favorite baby food recipes I should try?

Better Late Than Never

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Hi Friends!

How are you today? I hope you had a nice Monday! It's been so long since I last wrote a post, I almost forgot my login. Hahaha not really, but I am definitely not on top of  my blogging game right now. There have been some new developments in the job front which have me running around like an absolute crazy women. I seriously left my house yesterday morning at 5:30am and returned at 10:00pm. I love my job so I don't mind the hours, but that schedule doesn't leave much time for blogging. On the up side, I am getting very good a packing creative breakfasts, lunches and dinners to go. :) More on that tomorrow!

Yesterday, I went to a strength training class in the morning to get some new ideas and check out a new format. I also taught my own strength training class in the afternoon. I assumed I would be a little bit sore, but holy hamstrings, chest and triceps I hurt. Rolling out of bed was slightly challenging this morning.

Last weekend, Eric and I were lucky enough to go to the men's basketball Final Four and Championship Game. It was an absolutely incredible experience! The Butler vs. VCU game on Saturday was one of the most exciting games I have ever watched. Unfortunately, the championship game left something to be desired. Even though it was the two best teams in the country playing each other, it was a pretty slow and sloppy game. Again, I apologize for being so behind but I wanted to share all of the fun pictures we took at the games.

Of course, we had to get there early so E could play games before the big game! ;)

I can't remember the name of the lady who sang the national anthem on Saturday,
but she was great!

I think we might be related!

We were sweating to death on Saturday and then needed a
jacket on Monday.

Leann Rimes sang the national anthem on Monday and it was absolutely AMAZING!

We had a wonderful time spending time with Eric's family at the event and experiencing the excitement of a championship game. Thank you so much Dr. George for taking us!!

I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday! :)

Howdy!!

How was your weekend?? Mine was absolutely amazing and it's not over yet! Eric's wonderful dad got us tickets to the Final Four men's basketball games! Can you believe it? We headed down to College Station late late Friday night to get ready for the Final Four on Saturday. We set out for Houston around noon and attended the pre-game festivities until 5pm when the first game started. There will be a full picture recap of the games later on. We are going back for the championship game tonight, so we will have to wait to see what happens!

On Sunday, we got to have lunch with my parents, watch my little brothers flag football scrimmage, and hang out with the family for a little while. I feel like every time I see my siblings they have grown a foot taller. By Christmas of next year, I will probably have gone from being the tallest to the second shortest of five! Sunday night, we got to catch up with some friends from college. It's so strange hearing about everyone's new jobs and houses in other towns. Oh how we grow up fast! :) So far, this weekend has been wonderful and the best is yet to come with the championship game tonight at 8:00pm!

I have to give a big congratulations to the Texas A&M women's basketball team for making it to the championship game for the first time in school history!!!! They played an amazing game against Stanford, and I am so proud of them! Beat The Hell Out Of Notre Dame Ladies!

PIPES Challenge Update: I have been participating in Life After Bagels PIPES Challenge for 2 weeks and it's going well so far! The goal is to work up to 100 consecutive push ups in 6 weeks. To check out the challenge, head over to Morgan's blog or check out the official 100 push up challenge website. I tried this challenge months ago but never finished. This time, I have extra motivation in the form of a the strapless dress I have to wear for my cousin's wedding in June. ;) Bring on the toned pipes!

Alright, I'm off to make some oatmeal (of course) and get ready for the gym. Eric and I are going to try and squeeze in a workout before we head back down to Houston for the day! I hope you have a marvelous Monday!
