I apoligize for my absence yesterday, but Eric and I were at the World Series! We are both life long Rangers fans, so it was a dream come true to be able to see them play in the World Series (even if we didn't win). It was one of the most fun baseball games I have ever been to! Let me show you:
The Ballpark!
I've got the golden tickets!
We made it! :)
Watching the pre-game festivities.
You can't go to a baseball game without eating a hotdog!
The view from our seats.
Texas Our Texas
Overall we had an absolutely amazing night! It was definitely one of those experiences we will remember for the rest of our lives. As I walked around the Ballpark taking it all in, I could not help but notice all of the fatty greasy food hiding around every corner. Now, who can go to the ballpark and not eat anything for nine long innings?? Not me!!
So what can we do to make healthier choices?
- Check your ballpark's website and see if they allow you to bring food in. The Rangers' Ballpark allows you to bring anything in besides aluminum cans and beer. Eric and I packed our dinners and took them with us to the ballpark. This took away a lot of temptation because our stomachs weren't growling the entire time. If you can't bring your healthy food to the game, eat before you go.
- While your browsing the web, see if you can find the information for the concession stands. Many teams have the nutrition facts posted on their website.
- Look for the healthier options. Many ballparks are offering healthier choices to their fans. At the Ballpark in Arlington, you can get a chicken ceasar salad with light dressing, a soft pretzel without salt, and the kids stand offers fresh fruit, juice and milk.
- Only make one trip. Many people make multiple trips to the concession stands without ever tallying up how much they are consuming. Trip #1: hotdog and a 12oz beer + trip #2 a second beer + trip #3 cajun french fries + trip #4 cotton candy = way more than your daily allotment of calories. Remember it all adds up!
- Just say no to supersize. If you simply can't live without chili cheese fries, bypass the large and just order a small. You will more than likely cut the calories and fat in half.
- Chili Cheese dog- around 400 calories
- P:retzel dog- this one can cost you close to a quarter of your daily calories
- Beer- Each 16oz bottle can cost you 200 calories a pop. If you consume one every other inning, that puts you upwards of 700 calories (since they cut you off in the 7th inning)
- Garlic Fries- Although they smell Heavenly, these fries are a 500 calories diet disaster!
- Italian Sausage- this ballpark staple can run you around 700 calories and 40g of fat!
- Anything covered in BBQ sauce- It's not the sauce to be afraid of, it's whats lurcking underneath- BBQ beef sandwich, BBQ pork ribs all spell disaster for your waistline.
- Cuban Sandwich- Although you can't find these at the Ballpark in Arlington, be careful if you live outside of Texas because these babies will cost you around 700 calories.
- Pizza- Two slices of Little Ceaser's pepperoni contains 780 calories!
