Yay for You Bars!

Good Evening Everyone,

I apologize for all of the late night posts. When you get out of class at 9:00pm, by the time you commute home and shower it's already 10:30! I am usually an early bird, but this schedule is definitely teaching me how to be a night owl. I'm not sure how I like it, but you live and learn right?

I just had the best time creating my very own granola bar. One of my good friends, Sara, gave me a gift certificate to a website called YouBar. YouBar allows you to design your own energy bar tailored to your personal taste and nutritional needs. Each bar is taste tested before it is shipped out to guarantee deliciousness. You get to choose your base, protein powders, nuts/seeds, dried fruits and berries, sweeteners, chocolates and other tasty additions, grains/cereals, and extra infusions. Whew that's a lot of choices. You can click on any of the ingredients for a brief description and a list of the health benefits. You also get to name your bar! Of course, I named mine "Fun, Fit and Fabulous!"

My ingredients included:
  • YouBar Base- Almond Butter & Organic Dates
  • Whey Protein
  • Almonds
  • Organic Flaxseeds
  • Goji Berries
  • Prunes
  • Organic Brown Rice Syrup
  • Organic Cacao Nibs
  • Organic Maca Powder
  • Crunchy Rice Cereal
  • Oat Bran

I am so excited to try my Fun, Fit and Fabulous bars! I will let you know as soon as they come in!

Today, was day two of half-marathon training. My workout included a three mile run. Due to the inclement Dallas weather, (aka heat and humidity) I had to keep my run indoors. Luckily, the Rec has Woodway "for the long run treadmills." These are lifesavers if you have to do some training indoors. Although they look old school, the belt is really soft and minimizes the impact on your joints.

30 Days of Self Love

An excerpt from Tina's post today: "In life, we all search for happiness. We want fulfillment and to live with contentment. In order to find such a life, we have to take the first steps in finding joy in each day. From the small moments of a child’s laugh to the bigger “wow” moments of exciting vacations and celebrations, we must reach out and grab joy each day."

What will bring YOU joy today? this week? this year?

Yours truly,
